Gliclazide Tablet BP 80 mg
Gliclazide reduces blood glucose levels by stimulating insulin secretion from the pancreatic beta cells. In type 2 diabetics, gliclazide restores the first peak of insulin secretion in response to glucose and increases the second phase of insulin secretion. Gliclazide also has extra pancreatic actions including the improvement of metabolic utilization of glucose at a peripheral level. It is well absorbed, and the duration of action is approximately 12 hours.

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Adult : Initially 40-80 mg daily, adjusted according to response, increased if necessary up to l60 mg once daily, dose to be taken with breakfast, doses higher than 160 mg to be given in divided doses; maximum 320 mg per day or as directed by physcian.
