Cloxacillin Capsules
Cloxacillin is an antibiotic belonging to the group of Penicillins. It is penicillinase resistant and is effective orally.

Cloxil 500mg is indicated for:
- Infections caused by penicillinase producing staphylococci: skin and wound sepsis (especially in diabetics), cellulitis and breast abscess.

Upper respiratory tract infection:
Adults - 250mg orally every 6 hours for 7 to 14 days, depending on the nature and severity of the infection.
Children - 1 year to 18 years: 50 to 100mg/kg/day orally divided every 6 hours.
Skin infection:
Adults - 500mg orally every 6 hours for 7 days, or until 3 days, after acute inflammation resolves,
depending on the nature and severity of the infection.
Children - 1 year to 18 years: 50 to 100mg/kg/day orally divided every 6 hours.
Pneumonia:
Adults - 500mg orally every 6 hours for up to 21 days, depending on the nature and severity of the infection.
Children - 1 year to 18 years: 50 to 100mg/kg/day orally divided every 6 hours.
Cystitis:
Adults - 250mg orally every 6 hours for 3 to 7 days, depending on the nature and severity of the infection.
Cloxacillin is rarely indicated for the treatment of cystitis.
Cloxacillin is best absorbed when administered on an empty stomach, preferably 1 to 2 hours before meals.
