Pyrantel pamoate Tablets
The active ingredient of Pyrantin Tablet is Pyrantel Pamoate USP 125mg.
Pyrantel pamoate is an anthelmintic agent (worm eradicator) effective against the infections caused by a selected spectrum of worms.
Pyrantel pamoate exercises a neuromuscular blocking effect on susceptible helminths.
Pyrantel pamoate immobilizes the helminths and bring about their expulsion without producing excitation or stimulating migration of the affected worms.
Within the intestinal tract Pyrantin is effective against mature & immature forms of susceptible helminths.

Pyrantel Pamoate is indicated against infections due to the following gastrointestinal parasites when they are present either alone or as a mixed infection:
- Pinworm, Thread worm (Enterobius vermicularis)
- Roundworm (Ascaris lumbricoides)
- Hookworm (Ancylostoma duodenale and Necatar americanus)
The presence of an infection with persons in close proximity may indicate unidentified infection in other members. In these circumstances administration of Pyrantin to all the family or group members is recommended.
The recommended dosage of Pyrantin for the treatment of roundworm, pin worm and hookworm, is 10mg of base per kilogram of patient's body weight, administered orally as a single dose.
The Age & Weight based Dosage Chart (mentioned in the pack and information slip inserted) or the dosage recommended by the physician should be followed while administrating Pyrantin.
