Fexofenadine Hydrochloride Suspension

The active ingredient of Asfex suspension is Fexofenadine Hydrochloride USP 30mg/5ml

Fexofenadine hydrochloride is a non-sedating antihistamine with selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonist activity. Its effect is mainly by competitively blocking the effects of histamine at peripheral H1-receptor site; has no anticholinergic (atropine-like) significant sedative effect.

Fexofenadine hydrochloride suspension provides symptomatic relief from seasonal allergic rhinitis and symptomatic relief from chronic idiopathic urticaria.

Asfex Suspension is an alcohol free and a Blueberry flavored suspension

Asfex is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of allergic conditions responsive to antihistamines. The indications include;

·        Seasonal allergic rhinitis

·        Chronic idiopathic urticaria

Seasonal allergic rhinitis

Child 2 - 11 years:  

30 mg twice daily (1 teaspoonful; oral suspension). Once daily is recommended as the starting dose in paediatric patients with decreased renal function or as per the physcian advice.

Child 12 - 17 years:

120 mg once daily or as per the physcian advice.

Adult:

120 mg once daily or as per the physcian advice.

Chronic idiopathic urticaria

Child 6 months -  less than 2 years: 

15 mg twice daily (half teaspoon; oral suspension). A dose of 15 mg once daily is recommended as the starting dose in paediatric patients with decreased renal function.

Child 2 - 11 years:

30 mg twice daily (1 teaspoonful; oral suspension). A dose of 30 mg once daily is recommended as the starting dose in pediatric patients with decreased renal function or as per the physcian advice.

Child 12 - 17 years:

180 mg once daily or as per the physcian advice.

Adult:

180 mg once daily or as per the physcian advice.
